Berlin’s blend of academic innovation and urban reinvention provided an inspiring backdrop for a week of new ideas and international exchange. From 13 to 16 October, Sára Farkas at John von Neumann University, joined Future Professors Week 2026 at Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin (HTW Berlin).

The programme brought together international academics for workshops, discussions and exchanges on innovative teaching, applied research and academic collaboration. Topics ranged from the evolving role of artificial intelligence in education to new approaches to interdisciplinary research.

Berlin itself offered an inspiring perspective on urban transformation. HTW Berlin’s campus, once home to industrial facilities including AEG, illustrates how former manufacturing sites can be given new life through adaptive reuse, creating vibrant spaces for education, research and innovation.

The visit combined stimulating academic exchange with insights into sustainable urban regeneration, opening up new perspectives for future research.
